I have been meaning to post about this one for a while. SOHI Creative Southern Highlands magazine is filled with fashion, craft, local art, interiors and interesting articles about people making a difference in the Southern Highlands area, south west of Sydney. I was instantly drawn to the design and use of typography. SOHI is available to purchase online as a downloadable version or by mail. A little birdie tells me the Spring issue will be out soon so stay tuned to their site.
I've posted about Coco Cake Boutique Cupcakesbefore and couldn't resist posting again. These little Sesame Street party animals are the cutest! One day I might attempt to do something fun and colourful like these. Love them.
I have been very quiet I know! No food posts or many posts at all really. Work has been busy for the past month and I'm on a health food detox for 15 days so trying very hard to keep my cookbooks hidden away where I can't see them, hence the lack of food posts. Sunday is the final day, right on time for an Italian themed cocktail party for my mother-in-law's birthday. The temperature is nice and balmy at the moment so perfect for getting dressed up in a little dress and heels and enjoying a few cocktails with delicious food.
I came across this blog tonight and absolutely love it. Created by Hilda Grahnat it's filled with all her thrift store finds, travel photos and a few yummy things thrown in. It's a really nice uplifting blog. A good one for starting off the week.
I can't believe it's nearly Friday again. This week seems to have flown by and although I'm still busy I feel I'm getting through things. Here's a little piece of photography inspiration by Etsy store Lonny as the week winds down.
This week has been really busy. Last night I was up until 2am doing work. Trying to concentrate in French class this morning was a challenge that's for sure! On my way home while in a daze I stopped into my local Newsagent and was quite excited by this little book for sale called The Modern Household Manual. Written by Caroline Roessler, editor of Notebook:magazine it's filled with useful hints and how-tos like cooking basics, how to set a table, cleaning tips, decorating ideas and much much more. Apart from being useful its design is really cute with fun little illustrations and nice photography throughout. Quite a handy guide for all of us to have in our collection.
I love this time of year. The knits and warmer layers can be put away, the days are growing longer as the sun sets later and the sky is cloud free and bright blue. It's also the feeling of change and something new that I love. It means a change of activity - enjoying the outdoors more and being able to eat outside. Summertime barbecues with good friends and family, and breakfasts in the sunshine. Spring is in the air and I love it.
Tomorrow morning we have our Summer photo shoot so this weekend I've been sorting, organising and preparing. This time of year is always busy with the lead up to Christmas. Christmas, can you believe it's only around the corner. In a few weeks time I'll be able to share some photos from the campaign with you so stay posted.
This past week has brought a change in season and the feeling of summer is in the air, which means soft light outfits in fresh summer colours. I love this girls style and colour combination of pale peach and sky blue.
I've posted about children's clothing label le vestiarie de jeanne (top two images) before and couldn't resist posting them again as I love the sophisticated look to their collection. Another clothing boutique for children worth a mention is Wovenplay (bottom two images). Their collection inspires creativity using old techniques and hand-crafted textiles.
I was half asleep and ready to head to bed when I stumbled across food blog White Plate tonight. I love a good food blog find! Especially rustic, warm and wholesome looking food. Is it sad that my eyes light up like a kid in a candy store when I come across a nice food blog? The recipes on white plate look absolutely delicious and I love her photographic style. When I'm a little less sleepy I'll scroll through a few more pages but for now, off to bed.
Yvette Van Boven is an illustrator, food stylist and in general a very creative and arty lady living in Amsterdam. She recently had her launch for her book called Homemade which is filled with illustrations, delicious recipes and quirky photography. It looks like a nice fun book to have in your collection. I'm not sure it has been published in English though so learning a little Dutch wouldn't hurt. Homemade can be ordered here.
Another very cute cafe called Radish located in New York. Operating as a general store they also offer freshly prepared foods as well as picnic gear like blankets and enamel plates. It looks like a very welcoming, homely place to have a bite. Photos taken by photographer Karen Morechai.
